Legacy Giving

Overview

As a Legacy member, your passion, support, and dedication to our organization will be recognized and forever treasured, while your investment will sustain the extraordinary legacy of camping, counseling and education that we are honored to share with our community.

You can make a legacy gift of almost any type of property and in a wide variety of ways, depending on what type of estate plan you have in place. You can make a gift in your will or your living trust, or name Tahoe Family Solutions as a beneficiary of any type of financial account, life insurance policy, retirement account or securities account. Some charitable gifts, such as gifts from an IRA or a charitable remainder trust, can have tax advantages for you or your family. An attorney or other estate planning professional can help you determine the best way to make a lasting gift.

A legacy gift does not need to include your entire estate; even a small bequest can make a lasting difference to our mission. Whether you give a specific dollar amount, a share of your estate, or a gift of specific property, a gift to Tahoe Family Solutions can be part of your continued impact on our community to be remembered for many years to come.

On behalf of our entire organization, we thank you in advance for considering a legacy gift Tahoe Family Solutions. To learn more about how you can be a significant part of the future as a Legacy member, please contact TFS Development Director at MichelineT@TahoeFamily.org or call (775) 413-5145.

Your charitable bequest is one of the most important types of investments for building a sustainable future for Tahoe Family Solutions programming. Unless you direct otherwise, your bequest will be recorded as a gift to our annual campaign fund where it will support our ongoing operating expenses

There are three types of bequests for you to consider: Residual, Specific, and/or Contingent. A specific bequest is a certain dollar amount or percentage of your estate. Residual bequests are often made after making specific bequests to relatives, friends and charities. Whatever remains after specific bequests (the residue) can be given in percentages to charitable organizations and others. Contingent gifts only take effect under certain circumstances, such as when a first-named beneficiary does not survive to receive their gift.

If you are considering a restricted gift, we encourage you to contact us in advance to ensure that your wishes are met.

Note: This information is provided to ensure your gift properly identifies Tahoe Family Solutions. It is not intended as legal advice. Estate planning should always be done with the help of a professional.
