Operations Assistant

TFS Family Advocate

 

Mover/Handyman

Tahoe Family Solutions Thrift Store is seeking an individual to organize and help pick up donated furniture for the
TFS Thrift Store from throughout the North Tahoe Basin, using a TFS vehicle. They are to act as a representative
of the organization in the community and are responsible for conducting themselves in a polite and courteous
manner in their interactions with TFS donors.

Our ideal candidate has flexibility with their schedule and an ability to manage and move sometimes heavy
furniture.

Minimal qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Clean driving record in the states of Nevada and California
  • Current NV or CA driver’s license
  • Reliable and able to show up to work on time and as scheduled
  • Able to safely lift and carry 70 lbs and supervise a small crew
  • Weekend hours required

Hours: 10–15 per week (varies)

Pay: $30 per hour (contract position)

Note: Contractor is responsible for filing their own IRS 1099 documents and returns.

Tahoe Family Solutions Thrift Store Salesperson

The Tahoe Family Solutions Thrift Store salesperson will act as a front-line representative to customers, donors, board members, volunteers, and visitors that come into Tahoe Family Thrift.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting and pricing donations
  • Making sales and managing the cash register
  • Stocking racks and shelves
  • Tidying and organizing the retail space

Our ideal candidate is passionate about the TFS mission and has excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and
communication skills.

Preferred experience: At least 1 year in a retail role

Schedule: Some weekend hours required

Pay scale: $16–$20 per hour (depending on experience)

Current Open Volunteer Positions

Position: Homework Help Club Volunteers, age 16 and older

Reports to: TFS Elementary School Site Coordinator at Incline Elementary School

Time Commitment: One day a week, Wednesday, 2:30 to 4, or Thursday, 3:20 to 4:35, through the school year.

Volunteers will help students learn and complete their homework in addition to practicing their reading skills. Responsibilities include assisting children with homework packets assigned by teachers, reading support and reinforcement of basic skills (alphabet and elementary-level math such as multiplication tables)

Position: Reading With Your Littles Volunteers, age 16 and older

Reports to: TFS Family Resource Director at TFS Office, 774 Mays Blvd, #13

Time Commitment: One day a week, Tuesday or Thursday, 9:30 – 11:00 am through the school year

Volunteers will assist, play with, and read to young children (18 months to 3 years old) who come from predominantly Spanish-speaking homes to help ready them for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Arts and crafts, music and story time, and free play are all part of the program.

Position: Tahoe Family Thrift Store Volunteer, age 16 and older

Reports to: TFS Community Engagement Director, 797 Southwood Blvd

Time Commitment: One day a week, 2-hour shifts, multiple shifts available, ongoing

Volunteers will assist with sorting, pricing, and placing donated items onto the store’s racks and the daily tidying and upkeep of the store. Volunteers will receive a 50% discount on all items from the store once they complete one month of service, with consistent attendance. 

Position: TFS Explorers’ Program volunteers, age 16 and older

Reports to: TFS Youth Program Director, location varies

Time Commitment: One weekend day a month, February until June

Volunteers will assist adult staff in the supervision of children from 1st through 5th grade in planned activities, many of them outdoors, providing a positive role model, inspiration, and education and helping with maintaining safety.
