Our Mission

To provide key resources and enhance skills for families in the Tahoe Basin.

Tahoe Family Solutions (TFS) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing low/no cost services to children and families living along the Lake Tahoe Basin. Originally a satellite of Children’s Cabinet-Reno, TFS began providing services to the Incline Village/Crystal Bay areas in 1991. With the expansion of TFS’s services in this area, TFS became an autonomous agency in September of 1994

Our Services

Tahoe Family Solutions offers a wide range of community-based services designed to meet the needs of local residents. Our primary areas of focus include education, mental health, and youth development. We also provide case management, referrals, and free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

In addition, TFS operates Tahoe Family Thrift, offering new and gently used clothing, furniture, and household items—all in support of our programs and mission.

Who We Serve

Incline Village is the home base of Tahoe Family Solutions and a unique and vibrant community located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. In addition to its breathtaking beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, the community also has a complex mix of needs and opportunities that shape our programs and services.

With a population of approximately 9,000 full-time residents, Incline Village is a blend of long-time locals, working families, retirees, seasonal workers, and second-home owners. While the area is often known for its scenic views and high-value real estate, many year-round residents face challenges related to housing affordability, access to healthcare, and educational support.

Together, we're building a healthier, more resilient community — one family at a time.

Here’s a closer look at our community:

  • Housing & Economy: The cost of living in Incline Village is significantly higher than the national average. Many local workers, including teachers, caregivers, and service providers, struggle to live where they work.
  • Families & Youth: Roughly 20% of the population is under the age of 18. Our local schools serve a diverse student body, with nearly half of enrolled students identifying as Hispanic. Many area children come from bilingual or Spanish-speaking households and families balancing multiple jobs to make ends meet.
  • Diversity: While the area is predominantly white, there is a growing Hispanic community and an increasing need for culturally responsive services.
  • Aging Population: Like many mountain towns, Incline Village has a large number of older adults. Many live independently, but some require support navigating healthcare, housing, or isolation.

At Tahoe Family Solutions, we believe that every person deserves access to resources that help them thrive—regardless of zip code or income level. Our programs are designed with our community in mind, helping bridge gaps in mental health services, education, and basic needs.
