Our History

Tahoe Family Solutions (TFS) has served as a trusted resource for families in the Tahoe Basin and Northern Nevada communities for more than three decades. Established in 1991 as a satellite office of The Children’s Cabinet in Reno, the organization was created to bring much-needed mental health support to the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.

In 1994, TFS became an independent nonprofit under the name The Children’s Cabinet at Incline Village, and in August 2010, the organization adopted the name Tahoe Family Solutions to better reflect our mission and expanding services.

Since our founding, TFS has focused on supporting the well-being of families and individuals through mental health counseling, psychiatric care, therapeutic services, navigation and referral support, and youth programs for underserved children. As a Nevada-licensed 501(c)(3), we remain committed to providing key resources and enhancing skills that help families thrive.

For nearly 34 years, TFS has also served as the primary provider of psychiatric care in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay communities, where mental health options are extremely limited.

Meeting the needs of underserved populations has always been central to our work, yet accessing care has been especially challenging for Spanish-speaking residents. Historically, appointments required interpreters, creating barriers to trust and connection in what should be a confidential, personal process. These challenges continue to guide TFS as we work to expand culturally responsive and linguistically accessible services.

Today, Tahoe Family Solutions continues to grow while staying true to its original purpose: ensuring every person in our region has meaningful access to the resources, care, and support they need to live healthy, connected lives.
